The race, organized by the association Mujeres Activas por la Salud (Active Women for Health) in collaboration with the Lucena City Council and its Municipal Sports Service, expects to gather up to 700 participants. The five-kilometer route is designed for both runners and those who prefer to walk with their families, fostering community and healthy habits.
Araceli Galindo, president of Mujeres Activas por la Salud, highlighted the event's established place in the city's sports and social calendar, thanking the Municipal Sports Service and collaborating companies for their support.
The competition, technically coordinated by the Club Maratón Lucena (Lucena Marathon Club), will feature male and female categories, as well as age groups (kids, youth, senior, master A, B, and C) and specific categories for people with functional diversity and large families.
The Councilor for Sports, Ángel Novillo, congratulated the organization for reaching the sixth edition and encouraged citizens to participate, describing the symbolic seven euro fee as a contribution to a good cause. He also emphasized the appeal of the five-kilometer urban circuit.
Novillo reaffirmed the municipal support for initiatives that combine physical activity and awareness, framing the race as the closing event of Heart Week, which includes other activities promoting cardiovascular health.
The presentation took place at the facilities of La Cartonera Lucentina, a collaborating company. Its general director, Javier Alba, expressed the company's satisfaction in continuing to support a sports event with a social purpose, highlighting the collaboration between the business sector, the organizing association, and the City Council.
