The fire, affecting an area of pine and scrubland, remains active, with Infoca personnel working tirelessly to extinguish it. According to the latest updates, there is no concern for homes, neither those in the countryside nor in the populated center, although damage to agricultural properties has been reported.
The early morning was marked by the intense work of firefighters due to wind gusts that reached up to 40 kilometers per hour. The fire was declared on Wednesday around 4:35 PM in the Santa Catalina area.
A significant ground and air deployment was mobilized to combat the flames. Yesterday, up to 75 personnel worked alongside nine aerial units, including helicopters, planes, and amphibians. Currently, 27 forest firefighters and two environmental agents are on site with three water trucks and a bulldozer.
The Lucena del Puerto City Council has thanked residents and farmers for their collaboration, as well as the work of the Forest Fire Extinction Service of the Junta de Andalucía. The council emphasized that the fire remains active and efforts are underway to contain it.
This is the fifth fire in the same area within 15 days, raising suspicions about its origin. The mayor, Álvaro Regidor, has indicated that the fires appear to be "intentional" due to occurring in the same location and around the same time.
