The Iznájar City Council and Endesa have reached an agreement to invest 830,500 euros in modernizing and reinforcing the municipal electrical grid, addressing supply issues from last winter.

Endesa will allocate over 830,000 euros to modernize Iznájar's electrical infrastructure. This investment, resulting from months of joint work and initiatives by the City Council, aims to resolve the supply problems experienced last winter.
The repeated electrical supply incidents in Iznájar last winter, exacerbated by storms, caused significant concern among residents, businesses, and authorities. The City Council made finding a definitive solution a priority.
The mayor of Iznájar, Lope Ruiz, initiated contact with officials from e-distribución, Endesa's distribution company. These meetings conveyed public dissatisfaction and demanded actions to reinforce an electrical grid vulnerable to adverse weather.
Following months of discussions, technical visits, and ongoing coordination, an investment of 830,500 euros has been announced. Endesa will execute this project in the coming months to modernize and strengthen the municipality's electrical infrastructure.
Lope Ruiz highlighted Endesa's cooperative attitude, stating, "When there is dialogue, collaboration, and a willingness to solve problems, it is possible to reach important agreements like this." This initiative represents one of the company's most significant investments in the municipality in recent years.
Key works include burying an overhead medium-voltage line and constructing a new double-circuit underground line, providing the urban center with dual electrical feed and significantly reducing interruption risks. Removing overhead lines near the Puerta del Rey will also enhance the historic center's landscape.
The project also includes building a new transformation center, expanding an existing one, reinforcing medium-voltage lines supplying the municipality, and renovating low-voltage sections in rural scattered areas.
Work will commence shortly and proceed in phases to minimize disruptions to traffic and economic activity. The City Council is coordinating permits and municipal services to expedite execution and will keep the public informed of any incidents.
The mayor requested public understanding for temporary inconveniences, expressing confidence that the works "prepare Iznájar for the future with much more modern, secure, and reliable infrastructure."
For the City Council, this announcement marks the culmination of months of work driven by legitimate resident demand, demonstrating how perseverance and institutional collaboration can lead to tangible improvements in people's lives.
