After concluding the season in Tercera RFEF, Ciudad de Lucena has begun preparations for its entry into Segunda Federación. The first news confirmed by the club is the continuity of its sporting director, who has been the main person responsible for the squad that achieved promotion as champion of Group X. His work will extend for another year, with the aim of consolidating the team in the fourth tier of national football.
The sporting director joined Ciudad de Lucena last season with the task of restructuring a team that needed an almost complete overhaul, after several failed attempts at promotion. In collaboration with the team's coach, a competitive squad was formed that stood out for its solidity, remaining at the top of the standings for almost the entire season.
The Lucena team dominated Group X of Tercera RFEF, accumulating 73 points, resulting from 22 victories, seven draws, and five defeats. Furthermore, they recorded an impressive balance of 69 goals scored and only 25 conceded. These outstanding numbers allowed the team to finish with a 12-point lead over their closest pursuer, Dos Hermanas 1971.
“"The club lays the first stone of a project that must soon confirm the continuity of Antonio Jesús Cobos as coach, the other pillar of the entity's sporting success in this unforgettable 2025-2026 season."
With the renewal of the sporting director, Ciudad de Lucena establishes the foundations of a project that also hopes to confirm the continuity of the coach, considered fundamental for the entity's sporting success in the 2025-2026 season. Subsequently, attention will turn to squad planning, with the challenge of securing permanence in Segunda Federación, a demanding category in which Ciudad de Lucena will be the sole Cordovan representative, following the relegation of Salerm Puente Genil to Tercera RFEF.
