The decision to cancel the event, which also included performances by Bonier and Juancasupersub DJ Set, was made by the promoter who could not guarantee the organizational viability required to maintain the planned quality standards.
UFF! Events explained in a statement that the measure was adopted after analyzing the circumstances affecting the project and responsibly assessing its continuation. The company highlighted the willingness of the City Council of Priego de Córdoba for the concert to take place, although they understood the promoter's reasons.
The promoter thanked the City Council for its collaboration and regretted the inconvenience caused, confirming that the full amount of the tickets will be automatically refunded through the original purchase channel, without requiring any additional action from buyers.
The mayor of Priego de Córdoba, Juan Ramón Valdivia, expressed his "deep disappointment" over the cancellation, calling it a "unilateral decision" by the company. He reflected on cultural consumption habits and the need for early ticket purchases, given the economic risks promoters undertake.
Valdivia lamented that the cancellation "abruptly ends a magnificent line of major concerts" that the city had consolidated, recalling previous performances by artists such as India Martínez, Malú, and Antonio Orozco. He announced that the City Council is studying incentives to encourage advance ticket purchases and facilitate the organization of large cultural events.
The mayor also expressed his "absolute rejection" of the promoter's actions, stating that "one cannot play with the good name of Priego de Córdoba, with the prestige of Mascarón, and above all, with the standing of the 78th International Festival of Theater, Music, and Dance."
Despite the suspension, Valdivia assured that the planned summer cultural program remains in place and that the City Council will continue working to ensure Priego remains a benchmark for top-tier cultural events.
