The 28th Carnavaluc, recognized as the oldest carnival festival in Andalusia, will take place this Friday, July 10th, outside the Manuel Lara Cantizani Municipal Auditorium. The event, opening its doors at 9:00 PM and starting at 10:00 PM, has sold all 1,400 available tickets in just over 48 hours, solidifying its popularity.
The Councilor for Culture, Francisco Barbancho, emphasized the festival's significance, noting that the rapid ticket sales demonstrate its long-standing consolidation and foundation. The lineup features prominent groups from the Carnival of Cadiz.
“"We hope to enjoy great carnival festivals in different parts of our geography."
The evening will kick off with the chirigota by Melli y Molina, ‘Los que la tienen de mármol’, followed by the comparsa by Piru y Tomate, ‘Los locos’. The chirigota by Alex el Peluca, ‘Los amish del mono’, will perform next, and the festival will conclude with the chirigota by Antonio Álvarez ‘El Bizcocho’, ‘Ssshhhh’, popularly known as ‘Los saeteros’.
Presenter Modesto Barragán, a figure closely associated with the promotion of the Cadiz carnival, expressed his excitement about hosting the event, describing it as a survivor of an unrepeatable era that keeps alive the spirit of past festivals.
The Culture Department has thanked Arcángel Bedmar, artistic advisor, and highlighted satisfaction with the public's response, noting that the speed of ticket sales places Carnavaluc among the most promising carnival festivals in Andalusia.
This year, the solidarity bar will be managed by the association Infancia Solidaria. Attendees can bring supermarket bags with basic food and drinks in plastic containers, but rigid coolers, glass bottles, cans, or shelled products are prohibited. Re-entry to the venue will be permitted.
Videoluc will collaborate by projecting live performances onto the facade of the Municipal Auditorium. The Lucena City Council has praised the audience's respectful behavior and the venue's acoustics, visibility, and atmosphere, factors that have established Carnavaluc as an essential summer event in Lucena.
