The mayor of Cabra, Fernando Priego, has announced the granting of a €301,575 subsidy to the City Council. This aid, part of the Provincial Program ‘Diputación Invierte 2026’ promoted by the Provincial Council of Córdoba, will strengthen municipal employment policies and the improvement of public spaces in the city.
Of the total amount, €177,627 will be allocated to hiring ten unemployed individuals for six-month contracts, ending on June 30, 2027. The positions requested from the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) include a works foreman, a works laborer, two gardening laborers, a water systems laborer, an electricity laborer, a gravedigger, and three administrative staff. Access to these positions will be through public calls, adhering to principles of equality, publicity, and competition.
The remaining €123,947.89 will be invested in a new urban improvement project in the Pedro Garfias Urbanization. This investment continues the comprehensive transformation project the City Council has been developing in the area to modernize its infrastructure and recover public spaces, according to the mayor.
Fernando Priego highlighted that "more than half of this subsidy is directly aimed at creating employment opportunities for unemployed people in our city, while we continue to improve our neighborhoods with new investments." He emphasized that the Governing Team's commitment to employment remains an absolute priority and is at historic levels, thanks to the effective use of all resources made available to municipalities by public administrations.
The mayor recalled other municipal initiatives in employment and training, such as the ‘Actívate Joven’ program (20 contracts, over €356,000), three Training Workshops (45 student workers and technical staff, over one million euros), the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA) and the Stable Employment Promotion Program (jointly exceeding 2 million euros), in addition to the ‘Diputación Contrata 2025’ program.
Furthermore, Priego emphasized the "municipal effort to boost local economic development," noting that the City Council is allocating over €250,000 to support small and medium-sized enterprises this fiscal year, and is strengthening collaboration with the Association of Entrepreneurs and Merchants of Cabra (AECA) through an extraordinary contribution of €25,000, in addition to the regular cooperation agreements.
The objective, the mayor concluded, is to "continue reducing unemployment, foster business creation, improve the employability of our residents, and maximize all funding opportunities to generate wealth and employment in Cabra."
