The municipal delegate for Seniors of the Cabra City Council, Rosi Lama, along with social worker Conchi León, has presented the program for the 2026 Seniors' Week. This event, taking place between September 27 and October 3, will offer sports, cultural, educational, and social activities.
Rosi Lama emphasized that the program is dedicated "to those who have given their all, to our parents and grandparents," stating that "they are our memory, our roots, and our best example." The department has prepared a "very complete and lovingly crafted program" aimed at providing spaces to "meet, enjoy, stay active, and feel loved and valued."
The week will kick off on Sunday, September 27, with the Local Petanque Championship at the courts in the Virgen de la Sierra neighborhood. On Monday, September 28, the Local Domino Championship will be held at the Municipal Social Services Center.
On Tuesday, September 29, a cultural trip to Córdoba is scheduled, including a guided tour of Medina Azahara and a visit to the Mezquita-Cathedral.
On Wednesday, September 30, the Active Participation Center will host the talk ‘Intestinal Health’, led by nurses Raquel Espejo and Claudia Ruiz. On Thursday, October 1, a Yogalates workshop will begin at the Corpore Zen gym.
On Friday, October 2, a visit to the archaeological site of Cerro de la Merced will take place, featuring a healthy breakfast and a hiking tour. The return to Cabra is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
The Seniors' Week will conclude on Saturday, October 3, with the institutional celebration of Seniors' Day at the Municipal Cinestudio ‘Antonio Espinar Arcos’. During the event, José Espejo Gómez and Carmen Campos Rivera will be honored as ‘Seniors of the Year’.
Conchi León highlighted that the initiative aims to be "a meeting place for all who wish to participate," promoting "coexistence, active aging, and well-being."
Registration for all activities can be made until September 25 at the Municipal Social Services Center, located at 28 Calle Priego.
Rosi Lama concluded by stating, "Our seniors are our history, but also our present and our future; they are the reflection and the mirror in which we must look, and they will continue to be an essential part of our city."
