These measures aim to improve social service provision, ensure quality of care, and guarantee professional working conditions. The cost of the Home Help Service is updated from €16.63 to €17.46 per hour, a 5% increase. This is the fifth rise since the Regional Government of Andalusia began updating it, allowing funding to align with real costs and ensuring service providers can apply collective bargaining agreements to their employees.
The Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes Linares, explained that this modification aligns with the update approved by the Andalusian Agency for Social Services and Dependency in May 2026. The increase, retroactive from January 1st, applies to the two service lots, awarded to Ogara and the local company Alcasad. Contractual guarantees will be readjusted, and addenda formalized after administrative procedures are completed.
Linares highlighted that these updates directly impact the working conditions of home help assistants, following over 13 years with frozen service prices. The Council also approved the modification of the contract for sociosanitary services at the Elderly Residence, the Residence for Severely Affected Individuals (RGA), and the Occupational Center, with a 5.5% increase in place costs.
The objective is to ensure the economic viability of these centers and maintain care quality, passing the update to various professional categories including nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, clinical assistants, occupational monitors, social educators, and trades and transport staff. Linares asserted that the update is not a blank check to companies but a fulfillment of contractual conditions and Regional Government resolutions, with the City Council retaining its control and oversight functions.
The councilor finally thanked the municipal technicians for their work in processing the files and the unanimous support from all political groups for measures aimed at strengthening essential services for the elderly, dependent, and those needing support in the municipality. Additionally, the dissolution and liquidation of the Consortium for the Development of the Province of Jaén were unanimously approved.
