Gonzalo Domínguez, provincial deputy for Supramunicipal Public Services of the Provincial Council of Seville and vice-president of the Firefighters Consortium, confirmed the fire's spread. An "important" new focus has emerged in Aznalcóllar, crossing the provincial border from Niebla.
This new outbreak is located away from the urban center and has not reached the municipality of El Madroño, as detailed by Domínguez, who is also the mayor of El Castillo de las Guardas.
Extinguishing services see an "opportunity" to combat the flames due to favorable winds, although the fire is "very active." Aerial resources are engaged in its control.
The City Council activated the Pre-Emergency Plan at 2:35 PM this Monday, August 10, to prevent the flames from advancing towards the border between the two provinces.
The mayor of the municipality, Juan José Fernández, has urged residents to avoid adjacent roads, such as those leading to El Madroño, which are already cut off (SE538 and A476). He stressed the need for caution to avoid personal risk and to ensure that professionals' work is not hindered.
