The initiative, a first in the province of Jaén, involved school nurses and municipal psychologists. Their objective was to immediately address situations of stress, anxiety, or any other need that might arise among students during the intense examination days.
This system was built upon the groundwork laid by school nurses in Linares' high schools. For months, they conducted group sessions and information stands focused on promoting healthy habits and the emotional well-being of second-year Baccalaureate students. This prior relationship made it easier for young people to feel comfortable and confident seeking support during the exams.
“"University entrance exams generate a high emotional burden for many young people, and we consider it essential that they feel accompanied and supported from the health sector as well."
María Ángeles Luque, coordinator of school nurses for the Northern Health Management Area of Jaén, highlighted the importance of this support. She also emphasized the need for "coordination between health, education, and local administration to respond to the real needs of young people."
For its part, the Linares City Council provided two municipal psychologists and supplied water and fruit for the students, thereby promoting healthy eating and hydration habits during the demanding examination period.
