The day, marked by deep respect and remembrance, included a floral offering dedicated to those who lost their lives defending freedom, democracy, and social justice. This event took place at the site of the mass grave for the repressed.
“"The victims were not anonymous figures, but people with names and surnames firmly committed to their ideals."
During the gathering, Javi Perales, secretary general of the PSOE of Linares, emphasized the importance of historical memory as an essential exercise for collective dignity. Perales warned about the dangers of discourses that attempt to trivialize the past, stressing that knowledge of history is the only guarantee against repeating past mistakes.
Furthermore, the relevance of ongoing institutional work for the exhumation and identification of victims was highlighted. The socialist leader stated that these actions are a necessary response to the principles of justice and reparation, fundamental for strengthening the current democratic structure. With this act, the party reaffirms its commitment to the pursuit of truth and justice as pillars of a free society.
