The Provincial Council of Jaén is taking significant steps towards realizing the Business Attraction Office in Linares. This initiative, announced by president Juan Latorre, aims to leverage the potential of the Center for Technological Development and Experimentation (CETEDEX) to bolster the city's industrial sector. The provincial administration is currently drafting the tender specifications for the future procurement of the physical space that will house this project.
Second Vice President and Deputy for Institutional Relations, Javier Perales, emphasized the importance of this office, stating: "We continue to take significant and firm steps to ensure the new Business Attraction Office becomes a reality in Linares very soon. We want to be here because Linares faces a new opportunity, a real opportunity, built on facts and not on promises." He highlighted that the city is entering a new phase with reasons for optimism, moving beyond past experiences of unfulfilled projects.
This office will provide information and advisory services to companies interested in setting up operations in Linares, with a particular focus on those related to the fourth industrial revolution. The goal is to position Linares and the province of Jaén as a leading hub in sectors such as defense, robotics, biotechnology, computational modeling, data analysis, and artificial intelligence, according to Perales, who is confident in its potential to generate wealth and employment.
Perales underscored the investment attraction capabilities of CETEDEX, even during its construction phase, and acknowledged the crucial role of local companies like Sicnova in the Ministry of Defense's decision to choose Jaén for this technological center. "CETEDEX is already a reality, and investments and companies are arriving in the province of Jaén," he stated, adding that the new office will facilitate the establishment and support of businesses.
The province of Jaén is solidifying its position as a key industrial hub in the security and defense sector. In Linares, companies such as FMG have invested 14 million euros in a new factory for weapons and explosives, and Escribano is expected to begin producing military vehicles at the Santana Business Park. Furthermore, Linares hosts CEDAEC, Spain's first center dedicated to advanced manufacturing and certification of defense sector parts, a result of an agreement between the Ministry of Defense and Sicnova.
The Business Attraction Office will also focus on strengthening the "Ruta de la Plata" Industrial Corridor. It is anticipated to attract technology-based companies, start-ups, and SMEs to this corridor, which already includes the Geolit Science and Technology Park and the Linares Chamber of Commerce. This initiative aligns with the national strategy for decentralizing defense infrastructure.
Finally, Javier Perales acknowledged the Spanish Government's commitment to the railway connection of the Santana Business Park and the reindustrialization aid, which has benefited companies like the multinational Desay, with a 5.5 million euro investment for its new factory in Linares.
