The exhibition, titled ‘60 Years of the National Tarantas Contest at the Historical Archive of the City of Linares’ and curated by José Ramón Checa and Francisco Aránega, pays tribute to six decades of the contest's history, considered the most representative of the town's mining song tradition.
Through 20 thematic panels, the exhibition showcases a total of 88 historical documents narrating the contest's evolution from its inception in 1964 to the present day. Visitors can view internal correspondence, official minutes, jury voting records, artist contracts, professional membership cards, programs, posters from various eras, and original artistic sketches.
The visual journey focuses on the contest's organizational development and the challenges overcome in its early decades, highlighting its establishment as a prestigious event. The exhibition underscores the historical significance and flamenco identity of Linares, reaffirming the tarantas contest's role as a cultural pillar for preserving and promoting the legacy of mining songs nationwide.
