The drafting of the Junta de Andalucía's budget for 2027 has officially begun. This process, which has been delayed compared to previous years due to the elections held on May 17 and subsequent negotiations with Vox for the investiture of Juanma Moreno, is now underway after the Andalusian Executive signed the corresponding order.
The third vice-president and Minister of Finance, Carolina España, has signed the order greenlighting the budget's preparation, a step that will see work proceed "at full speed" to have the accounts ready "in due time and form."
According to the head of the ministry, the main priority of these budgets will be to "continue strengthening public services" and maintain Andalucía's "stability." Carolina España has highlighted that the 2027 accounts will place special emphasis on healthcare, education, dependency care, housing, water policies, and support for the business sector.
The minister criticized the "total and absolute paralysis" of the Spanish Government, which has led to three years without a budget, contrasting it with a "serious government" in Andalucía that will fulfill its obligation to present accounts. She emphasized that seven tax cuts and administrative simplification have made the region more attractive for investment, turning it into an "ecosystem favorable to businesses."
The Junta de Andalucía aims for the budgets to be approved "in due time and form" to ensure stability for Andalusians. Although the total figure is still unknown and will be revealed after the summer, last year's budgets amounted to 51,597.9 million euros.
The Junta has criticized the regional financing system proposed by the Spanish Government, calling it a "tailor-made suit" for Catalan independence and detrimental to Andalucía. Minister Carolina España stated that the community receives 143 euros less than the average and 389 euros less than a citizen of Catalonia, and stressed the need for a transitional equalization fund while a new system is approved.
