The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory has ordered, to date, the payment of 369 million euros to 90 town councils in the province of Jaén and to the Provincial Council. These transfers are broken down into two new lists issued to 32 local entities for an amount of 153 million euros, adding to the 216 million already paid last week to another 59 town councils.
The sub-delegate of the Government of Spain in Jaén, Manuel Fernández, highlighted the Executive's "immediacy in management and response," noting that a total of 400 million euros will be advanced to finance 100% of the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by storms in 94 municipalities of the province.
Among the most significant investments in these new payments are those allocated to Andújar (€52.5M), Linares with Estación Linares-Baeza (€5.3M), Orcera (€9.5M), and Úbeda (€3M). The Provincial Council will also receive €44.9M for more than a hundred actions to improve the provincial road network.
In Andújar, the funds will be directed towards projects to prevent future flooding along the Guadalquivir river axis, including the dismantling and reinforcement of the defense embankment (over €35.5M), as well as improvements to the sanitation and wastewater treatment network in industrial estates (€3.2M) and a new pumping station (€2.85M).
For Linares and Estación-Linares Baeza, the investment (€5.3M) will focus on repairing communication routes such as the road to Azucarrera and Sonae Arauco (almost €1M) and the old N-322 (720,000 euros), in addition to the sanitation network of the ELA Estación Linares-Baeza (€180,000).
Úbeda (€3M) will allocate its funds to the restitution of road infrastructure, including the Solona-Veracruz road, and to the conditioning of affected squares and walls, such as those of the Hospital de Santiago.
In Orcera (€9.5M), more than sixty projects will be carried out for the municipal road network and urban equipment, highlighting the conditioning of the natural complex of the Amurjo swimming pool (nearly €500,000) and the Torres de Santa Catalina (€800,000).
Manuel Fernández recalled that the Government of Spain allocated €7.2 billion in aid nationwide after the emergency, under Royal Decree-Law 5/2026, for all affected sectors. Of this figure, €2 billion is allocated to town councils for the repair and prevention of infrastructure, including the €400M for the province of Jaén.
The sub-delegate emphasized that "1 out of every 4 euros" committed for Andalusia and Extremadura is directed to the province of Jaén. The actions aim not only to mitigate damages but also to plan preventive measures against future adverse climate events, with an investment of approximately 160 million euros in the Río Eliche, Jaén-Los Puentes, and Río Guadalquivir axis.
More than 2,500 actions will be developed in the province, with a three-year period for execution and justification for the town councils. The aid will cover the repair of roads, facilities, public buildings, breakwaters, retaining walls, and preventive works such as channeling ravines and separating rainwater.
These subsidies, which cover 100% of the action and are paid with a full advance, will boost the local economy, as town councils will directly manage the contracting procedures. The possibility of promoting historical infrastructure and extending the execution period to three years is included.
