The Socialist Party of Linares has echoed residents' complaints regarding the condition of several children's playgrounds in the city. According to a statement from the party, the play areas are missing canopies removed months ago due to rain, compounded by persistent maintenance and cleaning issues.
Socialist councilor Joaquín Hernández pointed out that the rising temperatures are exacerbating the situation, making these spaces difficult to use due to the absence of shaded areas. The lack of comfort and safety for children is a growing concern for local families.
The socialist opposition details damaged play equipment, faulty safety flooring, and a general lack of upkeep that residents have been reporting for months, impacting both the city's image and family leisure.
The care of children's infrastructure requires continuous planning to ensure safe and accessible facilities throughout the year, as these are fundamental spaces for community coexistence.
Hernández also criticized the current Popular Party administration for the complete absence of new investments in this area, noting that after three years in office, no new children's play areas have been developed.
The PSOE's statement recalls that the last major intervention of this kind was the construction of the La Andaluza playground in the Girón neighborhood during the previous socialist government. Therefore, they urge the PP executive to immediately reinstate shading systems, repair damages, enhance cleaning efforts, and implement a plan for the improvement and creation of new recreational facilities.
