The 43rd edition of the Andalucía Sierra Morena Rally, which counts towards the European and Spanish super championships, has prompted the Córdoba City Council to prepare a special security and traffic operation. This plan, coordinated by the Local Police, aims to ensure the smooth running of the competition and the safety of attendees, while minimizing disruption to urban mobility.
Initial restrictions began on Monday, April 13, at 07:00 AM at the El Arenal fairgrounds, where access was cut off for the installation of the Service Park and logistical areas. On Thursday, April 16, the city center will take over with the starting ceremony in Plaza de las Tendillas and Cruz Conde street, scheduled between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
During the starting ceremony, traffic cuts will be implemented along the axis of Alfonso XIII street, as well as on Málaga and Jesús y María streets. Detours will be established, and temporary two-way traffic will be enabled on roads like San Fernando to ensure passage for emergency vehicles and residents.
The most significant impact on city mobility will occur on Friday, April 17, with the urban competitive section taking place between 5:00 PM and 10:30 PM on República Argentina and Conde de Vallellano avenues. República Argentina Avenue will experience a total vehicle closure from 6:30 PM, diverting traffic towards Medina Azahara Avenue and Avenida de los Custodios.
The Local Police will deploy numerous patrols to filter access, increase vigilance at pedestrian crossings, and prevent road invasions. Lanes will remain open for public transport until shortly before the engines roar.
