Alicia Fernández Sánchez has been chosen by the Governing Board of the Brotherhood of Nazareno to exalt the Santísima Virgen de los Dolores on her feast day next year. The appointment was made during an ordinary session held last May.
Fernández Sánchez possesses a notable trajectory linked to the confraternal life of Chiclana. Her relationship with the Brotherhood of Nazareno dates back to 2006, when she joined the Youth Group, eventually becoming its president between 2008 and 2012. Subsequently, she continued her work as a member of the Governing Board from 2013 to 2020.
Her devotion extends beyond this brotherhood, as she is also part of the Brotherhood of El Rocío in Chiclana and the Brotherhood of Santa Elena, in San Fernando, thus maintaining a strong connection with the religious life of both localities.
Her religious formation began at the Colegio Niño Jesús, where she actively participated in the Juventud Mariana Vicenciana (JMV), a period that strengthened her faith and devotion to the Virgen Milagrosa. She currently collaborates with the educational center's pastoral care.
In the social sphere, Alicia Fernández Sánchez serves as secretary for the association Divergentemente, an entity dedicated to the support and well-being of neurodivergent individuals, promoting inclusion in the town.
“"It is a responsibility that I assume with much love. To the Virgin's call, one must always respond."
Fernández Sánchez herself has expressed on social media that she assumes the role with "much love" and has described her appointment as "a privilege and an honor." The Brotherhood has expressed gratitude for her willingness and commitment to exalt the Santísima Virgen de los Dolores.
The sermon will take place on September 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM, in an event that will bring together brothers, faithful, and devotees around one of the most deeply rooted Marian advocations in the city.
