The exhibition, organized by the Tourism and Historical Heritage Department of the Bailén City Council, features objects and documents on loan and donation, primarily from Juan Carlos Cerezo Novillo and Miguel Francisco Costa Simón. These contributions will enhance the city's museum collection.
The Councilor for Tourism and Historical Heritage, Juan Jesús Padilla, expressed gratitude for the donors' generosity, highlighting that the new pieces offer unparalleled documentary value for understanding Bailén in 1808. "Each piece tells a story and helps us better comprehend that era," Padilla stated, emphasizing that incorporating these funds contributes to building collective memory.
Initially displayed in the Temporary Exhibition Hall, the items will later be integrated into various sections of the Museum, becoming part of its permanent collection. "What we are presenting now will later become part of the Museum itself, allowing these pieces to be seen and known by our residents and all visitors who come to Bailén," explained the councilor.
Padilla encouraged residents and visitors to visit the Museum to enjoy the exhibition and "discover pieces that allow us to travel back in time and approach the Bailén of 1808 from a different perspective."
The municipal official stressed the City Council's commitment to maintaining the Museum as a "living, dynamic, and constantly evolving" space. "The Museum is not a closed or static space. It is a living space that grows, changes, and constantly adapts," he affirmed, aiming to make each visit more engaging and convey the significance of the Battle of Bailén.
This strategy of continuous enrichment, according to Padilla, seeks to enhance the visitor experience by using local heritage and history as tools to firsthand understand the events of 1808. The ultimate goal is for visitors to "travel back in time, comprehend the context of the Battle, and learn through objects, documents, and testimonies about the Bailén that was central to one of the most important historical events in our city and our country."
