The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when the 37-year-old athlete was forced to deploy his emergency parachute following a canopy failure. He made an emergency landing on a slope in Fuentemayor, an area known for its steep terrain and challenging access.
Unable to move due to a leg injury, the Civil Guard's Operations Center in Jaén launched a rescue mission. The operation involved specialized teams from the GREIM mountain rescue unit and the Air Service based in Granada.
Once the paraglider was located, rescue agents reached him to stabilize his injury before extracting him from the slope. He was then flown to the Traumatology Hospital of Granada for further medical treatment.
