The works focus on correcting the gradient at kilometer point 0.800 and replacing a drainage structure over the García Bravo stream. These actions, part of the Provincial Road Investment Plan 2025-2027 and awarded to Construcciones Maygar SL for 173,352 euros, were previously halted due to "devastating" damage to the road's 29 kilometers, including significant landslides.
The section currently affected by the interruption, between kilometer points 0.400 and 1.800, will be closed to traffic for an estimated period of one and a half to two months. The Provincial Council has stated that an alternative route is available to access the urban center of Jimena, both from the A-405 (coming from Estación de Jimena or Los Ángeles) and from Puerto Galis (taking the link towards Camping Los Alcornocales or Cruz Blanca).
The intervention, declared an emergency with an investment exceeding two million euros for overall repairs, involves replacing the existing drainage structure with a new prefabricated reinforced concrete frame, four meters wide by three high. Excavation in the stream bed will precede this replacement. The work will improve drainage and correct the road's gradient.
The Provincial Council has already notified the General Directorate of Traffic, the Jimena Town Council, the Civil Guard Traffic Operations Center, and the 112 Andalusia Emergency Coordination Center about this incident.
