A representative from the Jaén Provincial Council attended the XXVI Olive and Olive Oil Festival of Sierra Mágina, held in Jimena. During the event, it was emphasized that the quality of EVOO reflects the identity of this region, an achievement attributed to the 60,000 hectares of olive groves spread across fifteen municipalities and the efforts of 13,000 olive growers.
“"This event has become a meeting point, a celebration, and a recognition of a way of life marked by the olive grove culture."
Despite the difficulties of the last campaign, marked by a series of storms that reduced production by 22% compared to the previous year, it was highlighted that the quality of Sierra Mágina oils has been excellent. Furthermore, bottled oil sales figures have recovered, demonstrating the sector's resilience.
The work of the Regulatory Council of the Sierra Mágina Designation of Origin was recognized for its fundamental role in promoting and protecting the origin, quality, and excellence of the region's oils. The Nuestra Señora de los Remedios cooperative was also congratulated on its 50th anniversary and its continuous commitment to quality, exemplified by its Oro de Cánava EVOO.
The cooperative's facilities hosted the twenty-sixth edition of the festival, which saw the participation of various authorities and representatives from the olive oil sector.
