The Provincial Council of Jaén has established a new viewpoint in Albanchez de Mágina, named 'Mirador de las mariposas'. This initiative, part of the 'OleotourJaén' Sustainable Tourism Plan (PSTD), aims to evoke the rich biodiversity of the Sierra Mágina Natural Park and offer views of the mountain olive grove landscape. Provincial deputy Paco Reyes, accompanied by the local mayor, Diego Fernández, visited this new space, located at the entrance to Albanchez de Mágina from Torres.
Deputy Paco Reyes highlighted the viewpoint's design, which "identifies the biodiversity and landscape of Sierra Mágina." He noted that it is part of a provincial network of viewpoints designed to showcase the "sea of olive trees of Jaén" to tourists, emphasizing the uniqueness of the olive grove landscape as the main attraction of the province of Jaén.
For his part, the mayor of Albanchez de Mágina, Diego Fernández, expressed his satisfaction with the creation of this "very original space" that beautifies the area for residents and visitors. The design was undertaken by the Ubeda-based company More&More Design, and it prominently features butterflies to commemorate the numerous species of this insect and wild plants found in the Sierra Mágina Natural Park.
This installation is part of the network of viewpoints promoted by the Diputación de Jaén through the OleotourJaén PSTD, which has a total funding of 4.5 million euros from Next Generation EU funds, within the framework of the Central Government's Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR). This network has inventoried 130 landscape viewpoints and has specifically constructed artistic viewpoints in locations such as Albanchez, Úbeda, Jaén, Porcuna, and Orcera, in addition to including emblematic landscape sites like Iznatoraf, Baños de la Encina, and Siete Pilillas in Pegalajar.
