The Consejería de Fomento has allocated 1,050,000 euros to the modernization of the A-6104 road, a route spanning over nine kilometers that links Úbeda with Jimena. This project seeks to improve mobility, road safety, and access to protected natural areas like the Sierra Mágina Natural Park.
The road, with a total length of 21.58 kilometers, experiences an average daily traffic intensity of 254 vehicles, of which 30 percent are heavy goods vehicles. Its renovation was a priority to alleviate congestion on the A-401, a heavily trafficked route connecting municipalities within the area.
The works, with an execution period of one and a half months, include reinforcing the road surface by laying a new asphalt layer. A 800-meter section is being specifically addressed for deformations and subsidence, involving milling, adding artificial aggregate, and subsequently a new asphalt layer.
To ensure safety, the road has been temporarily closed since June 22nd in several sections, with traffic expected to resume on July 3rd. The Junta has expressed gratitude for users' understanding.
The comprehensive project involves laying over 7,000 tons of asphalt mix and 1,300 cubic meters of artificial aggregate. Additionally, 850 linear meters of safety metal barriers will be installed, road markings will be repainted, and vertical signage will be reinforced.
These improvements are part of the Junta de Andalucía's commitment to the province's road infrastructure, alongside other initiatives such as the promotion of the Jaén tram and the awarding of a section of the Autovía del Olivar.
