Endesa has started the dismantling of 43 medium-voltage towers in the El Brillante neighborhood, Córdoba, as the final phase of an underground power line project.

The electricity company Endesa began on Tuesday, June 9, the removal of the first of 43 medium-voltage towers located in the El Brillante neighborhood of the Cordoban capital. This action marks the final stage of work that has been ongoing since the beginning of the year and represents an investment exceeding 1.6 million euros.
The comprehensive project has included the burial of 5.7 kilometers of overhead medium and low-voltage lines, the removal of 2.3 kilometers of cabling, the dismantling of 8 exterior transformer substations, and now, the elimination of the 43 pylons that supported the old overhead lines. The primary objective is to enhance the quality and reliability of the electrical supply in the area.
Throughout June, a specialized technical team will be responsible for dismantling each of the towers, which reach up to 16 meters in height and weigh over 730 kilograms. Using heavy-duty cranes, the structures are lifted and placed on the ground for subsequent cutting and recycling. Once all towers are removed, the concrete bases will be eliminated to complete the works.
All recovered material, including cabling and transformers, is being managed by an authorized company for its recovery and treatment, aiming for zero waste. The president of the Urban Planning Management, Miguel Ángel Torrico, and the head of Endesa Córdoba's Networks subsidiary, Francisco Cruceira, oversaw the commencement of this work.
These works are part of e-distribución's Investment Plan for Córdoba, focused on the renovation, automation, and improvement of electrical grids to optimize service, increase its quality, and facilitate the integration of renewable energies.
