The works, spanning over 2.5 kilometers, include the application of a new asphalt layer to widen the road to 8 meters. The project also involves renewing vertical and horizontal signage and installing over 300 meters of metal safety protection barriers.
These efforts are in addition to emergency works on the road linking Orcera to Segura de la Sierra, where two gabion retaining walls will be constructed to address slope failures, with a budget of 168,000 euros. According to the Deputy of Municipal Infrastructures, José Luis Agea, these works are currently 15% complete.
Agea highlighted that these interventions are part of a broader plan to improve roads affected by storms, partly funded by aid from the Spanish Government (40 million euros) and a record budget from the Provincial Council of Jaén (25 million euros) for roads under its jurisdiction.
The deputy emphasized the importance of these works for the area's development, noting it is one of the province's most beautiful environmental settings, generating employment and economic dynamism, where road communications play a crucial role.
