The event took place around 1:15 PM when the Operations Coordination Center (COC) in Huelva received an alert about the injury. Given the challenging terrain, Civil Guard officers traveled to the location and had to walk approximately two kilometers along the trail to find the affected person.
Once located, the officers provided assistance and proceeded with her evacuation along the same trail to a point where she could be transferred by ambulance to a hospital.
In light of such incidents, the Civil Guard reminds the public of the importance of taking precautions before heading outdoors. They recommend installing location apps like Alertcops, studying the route beforehand, never hiking alone, carrying a mobile phone with sufficient battery, and bringing energy food and water. They also advise wearing warm clothing and always informing a family member or friend of the starting point and planned route.
Furthermore, they suggest calling emergency services before nightfall if disoriented, as darkness hinders rescue operations. If traveling by car, they recommend ensuring the fuel tank is full.
