The recognition, presented this Monday at a gala organized by the Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, highlights the collective reaction of the residents of the Cádiz municipality. The Junta de Andalucía has positively valued the behavior of families in the face of a situation that caused forced evacuations and significant damage.
In the same category, families from Ronda (Málaga) were also recognized for the hospitality and support provided to Grazalema residents who had to temporarily leave their homes. According to information provided by the Ministry, Ronda residents offered accommodation and assistance during the emergency period.
“"The special mention focuses on the collective reaction of the affected families during those days."
The 2026 Andalusian Family Awards ceremony took place at the CaixaForum in Seville and was presided over by Minister Loles López. These awards aim to recognize individuals, entities, and administrations that stand out for their support to families in various categories.
In this sixth edition, nine ordinary awards, an honorary award, and three special mentions were granted. In addition to the recognition for Grazalema, a mention was given to the family business Ibéricos Vázquez, from Aracena (Huelva), and the honorary award went to the Yo No Renuncio Association, from Málaga, for its work in work-life balance and co-responsibility.
The recognition of Grazalema brings regional visibility to an episode that marked the beginning of the year in the Sierra de Cádiz, where torrential rains in February generated a solidary response both within and outside the province.
