The Provincial Council of Cádiz has formalized a collaboration agreement with the City Council of Bornos to promote the improvement of the surroundings of the Ribera Palace Castle. This monument, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) and open to the public, is one of the main tourist attractions in the town.
The provincial contribution of 60,000 euros will be allocated to the completion of the redevelopment of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, Nuestra Señora del Rosario (Jardín), San Jerónimo streets, and Plaza 1 de Mayo. The works include the demolition and replacement of the current pavement to ensure accessible pedestrian transit, as well as the completion of pending underground infrastructure such as sewage, water supply and irrigation, low-voltage network, and public lighting.
The funding will also enable the installation of urban furniture and elements. The planned execution period for these tasks is eight months. The Provincial Council considers this monumental complex and its surroundings to be of "evident public interest" and to contribute to the "promotion of economic and social development" of the province of Cádiz.
The City Council of Bornos is already carrying out the Ciudad Amable (Friendly City) project in the area to ensure accessibility for both residents and local businesses, highlighting the importance of the castle-palace as a historical-artistic attraction.
