The province of Cádiz is preparing for one of the most anticipated hiking events of the summer: the night hike on the Vía Verde de la Sierra. Following winter damage to some sections, the Vía Verde de la Sierra Foundation has organized this activity, which was previously held successfully in 2025 from Olvera.
The route, allowing participants to enjoy nature in a privileged setting, will start in Puerto Serrano on Saturday, July 11th. Later, in September, the activity will be repeated in Olvera.
Registrations for this experience, which combines community, sport, and nature, are now open. The deadline to sign up is July 8th or until promotional materials are exhausted. The activity costs 8 euros and includes a commemorative t-shirt (subject to size availability), a backpack, water, a sandwich, and refreshments.
“"It forces us to adapt to the sections currently open for use."
Registration points include the headquarters of the Vía Verde de la Sierra Foundation in Puerto Serrano, the Olvera Municipal Library, the counter at the Pruna Town Hall, and the Coripe Town Hall. Registration can also be done by calling 956136372.
The schedule details the distribution of bibs and backpacks at 8:30 PM at the Foundation's headquarters. The route will begin at 9:00 PM from the vicinity of the Puerto Serrano Station. At 9:45 PM, refreshments will be served at the entrance of the La Reyerta tunnel, followed by the return to the station. Hikers are expected to arrive back at 10:30 PM, with ambient music and a prize draw at 11:00 PM.
The t-shirt for the hike will be commemorative and will support the Spanish National Football Team, while maintaining the essence of this unique enclave in Cádiz.
