A man between 58 and 60 years old lost his life on Sunday afternoon after falling into a well on a rural property located in the municipality of Olvera, in the Sierra de Cádiz. The 112 Andalusia Emergency service has confirmed the incident.
The incident took place shortly after 4:00 PM on a property near the CA-9109 road, in the area known as Los Rafaeles. The alert was raised by an eyewitness who contacted the emergency coordination center requesting urgent assistance.
In response to the call, 112 mobilized the Civil Guard, the Local Police of Olvera and Torre Alháquime, the 061 Health Emergencies Center, and personnel from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Cádiz.
It was the firefighters who carried out the rescue of the victim from the well. The operation required specialized personnel due to the nature of confined spaces and the access difficulties often found in rural environments.
Despite the rapid response and deployment of resources, medical personnel confirmed the man's death at the scene. Nothing could be done to save his life.
Currently, the exact circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation. Authorities will need to determine if the death was caused by the fall itself, drowning, or other factors related to the incident.
