The five hours of anguish experienced in Puerto Serrano came to a happy end. Little Manuel, a three-year-old boy who had gone missing on the Vía Verde of the Sierra de Cádiz, was located by a neighbor participating in the search on horseback.
The incident occurred while the child was having lunch with his family and friends at the restaurant of the old train station. Suddenly, the boy disappeared, causing immediate panic among his parents, who alerted the Guardia Civil and mobilized the entire community.
Finally, a young volunteer from the search team found the boy about four kilometers from where he was last seen, hidden behind a tree. The main fear was that the operation would be complicated by the arrival of nightfall.
Up to 500 residents from the Sierra of Cadiz, from Prado del Rey, Espera, Alcalá del Valle, and Montellano, joined this search.
Citizen solidarity was exemplary, with nearly 500 residents from nearby towns such as Prado del Rey, Espera, Alcalá del Valle, and Montellano joining the search efforts. Both the Town Hall of Puerto Serrano and that of Algodonales expressed their gratitude for this massive mobilization.
