The Cadiz Provincial Council has presented to the province's municipalities the Plan Cádiz Marcha+ 2026, a 33.7 million euro initiative aimed at funding municipal investments and repairing damage caused by recent storms.

The Provincial Palace hosted the Council of Mayors, where the details of this plan were outlined. The initiative expands its scope to include the province's recovery after the series of storms earlier this year. The financial coverage will be allocated not only to municipal investments but also to repair, restitution, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or new infrastructure creation.
Among the novelties of this edition, the increase in the total amount of the plan and the types of eligible actions stand out. A general increase has been applied to all municipalities and Autonomous Local Entities (ELA), with a second increase exclusively for localities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and ELA, seeking positive discrimination for those with fewer resources and greater impact from the storms.

"The purpose of this edition is expanded to address the recovery of the province after the series of storms at the beginning of the year."

The budget distribution for the Plan Cádiz Marcha+ 2026 has been structured into five groups, based on population and equity criteria. Municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, such as Prado del Rey or Algodonales, can apply for grants of up to 600,000 euros, while others like Villamartín or Medina Sidonia will receive up to 660,000 euros. Localities such as Tarifa, Ubrique, and Vejer de la Frontera can request up to 795,000 euros.
For municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, such as Los Barrios or Conil de la Frontera, the limit is 600,000 euros. Larger cities like Jerez de la Frontera, Algeciras, Cádiz, San Fernando, El Puerto de Santa María, Chiclana de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, La Línea de la Concepción, Puerto Real, San Roque, Arcos de la Frontera, and Rota have a limit of 845,000 euros. The ELA, for their part, will receive between 245,000 and 375,000 euros.
In addition to the Plan Cádiz Marcha+ 2026, two other initiatives were presented. The Technical Staff Hiring Plan, with 1,650,000 euros, aims to facilitate the hiring of personnel in municipalities with fewer than 25,000 inhabitants to support the management of storm damage. The Urban Planning Plan, with 658,060 euros, will assist municipalities between 5,000 and 10,000 inhabitants in drafting their basic municipal planning documents.
