The union sections CGT, ASC, SITT, CCOO, and CSFI, which form the Tussam committee, have issued a statement arguing that “there is currently no level of labor conflict, nor breaches of the current collective agreement that justify calling any type of strike or partial stoppage.”
The general sentiment of the staff and the members of the aforementioned union organizations is far from supporting the strike called by a union that has minimal support among the staff and no representation on the company committee.
The committee also criticized the “lack of specificity and clear objectives of the strike,” as well as the absence of any prior attempt at negotiation with the company's management. Furthermore, they point out the lack of a qualified majority to reach an agreement supporting the call.
The majority unions accuse the SEM union section of causing “very serious and difficult to reverse damage” with this call, attributing to them “inexperience and lack of common sense,” as well as the “lack of a credible union project” and “egos and arrogant attitudes of their leaders.”
We urge the staff not to support or endorse these stoppages to tell these people that Tussam is not a game driven by personal interests, much less for purposes that in no way serve the general interest, but rather external interests and those of a few.
