Residents in Andalusia now know the exact dates they can shop on holidays and Sundays in 2027. The Ministry of Employment, Business, and Self-Employment has published the definitive calendar in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA), authorizing the opening of commercial establishments on 16 days throughout the year.
This measure aims to benefit consumers, particularly during high-demand periods such as winter and summer sales, peak tourist seasons, and the Christmas and Three Kings campaigns. Regulations mandate openings when two or more consecutive holidays occur, ensuring supply availability.
The calendar set by the Junta de Andalucía allows for some flexibility, with local town councils able to change up to two dates to align with local festivities, like fairs or patron saint days, if they deem commercial opening necessary on those occasions.
The 16 authorized dates for commercial openings in 2027 are: Sunday, January 3 and Sunday, January 10; Monday, March 1 and Thursday, March 25; Sunday, May 2; Sunday, July 4; Sunday, August 1 and Sunday, August 8, and Monday, August 16; Monday, November 1 and Sunday, November 28; and Monday, December 6, Wednesday, December 8, Sunday, December 12, Sunday, December 19, and Sunday, December 26.
December concentrates five of these opening days, reflecting special protection for the Christmas shopping season to facilitate gift and food purchases. This strategy seeks to maintain the competitiveness of Andalusian commerce compared to other autonomous communities during crucial commercial weeks.
