The NH Plaza de Armas Hotel in Seville hosted the first meeting of the 'Stop the Far-Right' initiative, which aims to mobilize citizens. The turnout, which exceeded the organizers' expectations, featured the participation of various public figures from social and journalistic fields.
“"You are either a democrat or a fascist."
During the event, concerns about the rise of the far-right and the need for a strong response were addressed. A spokesperson for the organization emphasized the importance of "planting the seed that will end the sad state" generated by the perception that the far-right's advance is inevitable.
Self-criticism within progressive sectors was highlighted, pointing to the need to strengthen civil society organizations and to convince younger generations about the dangers of certain discourses on social media. Abstainers were also urged to participate in elections to curb the far-right's progress.
The initiative will continue its journey through other cities in Spain, with the next event scheduled for Thursday, May 21, at the Ateneo de Madrid, where other public figures are expected to participate.
