The Venezuelan opposition leader received the Golden Key of Madrid in an official ceremony at the Casa de la Villa, marking the beginning of her visit to Spain and her meeting with the Venezuelan diaspora.

The Spanish capital has extended a gesture of support to the Venezuelan democratic cause by awarding the Golden Key of the city to the opposition leader. The ceremony took place at the Casa de la Villa, where the leader was enthusiastically received by compatriots and admirers chanting slogans of freedom and hailing her as a future president.
Before the distinction was presented, the political leader signed the guest book and greeted various invited personalities. The mayor of Madrid, in his speech, highlighted the honoree's trajectory in the fight for her people's freedom, calling the day “historic” and the key “the greatest honor a city can bestow upon a visitor.”

"Very soon we will see each other in a free Venezuela, and it will be thanks to you."

The opposition leader, for her part, expressed gratitude for the reception and the “deep affection” felt in Madrid, linking the history of Spain and Venezuela through shared values such as the defense of human life, freedom, and justice. She emphasized the legitimacy of her cause and the Venezuelan people's resistance against tyranny, recalling the challenges overcome to unite the country.
With the Golden Key in her hands, the Venezuelan leader underscored the object's symbolism as an “opening to freedom” for her nation, quoting Cervantes: “for freedom, as for honor, one can and should risk one's life,” and concluding with the hope that “very soon we will be able to breathe in freedom.”
