The mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, announced the Andalusian capital's adherence to this initiative via his social media. The rally is scheduled for 8:00 PM and will take place simultaneously in various Spanish municipalities.
The proposal, driven by the FEMP and its president, the mayor of Jerez de la Frontera, María José García-Pelayo, aims for city councils to publicly show their support for Ceuta on its regional day. Sanz also indicated that the Sevillian council will present a motion related to Ceuta at the next September municipal plenary session.
The mayor extended a "strong hug" to the people of Ceuta and highlighted that Seville joins a growing list of municipalities supporting the call. These include Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva, Zaragoza, Burgos, Albacete, among others.
In other cities like Córdoba and Cádiz, rallies will also be held at 8:00 PM in front of their respective city halls, inviting citizens to participate. In Jerez, García-Pelayo is promoting the initiative under the slogan "Ceuta is not alone" and has already visited the autonomous city to offer her personal support.
This call comes after weeks of tension in the autonomous city and aims for Spanish municipalities to express their solidarity and institutional support for the Ceuta population amidst the current situation.
