The arrival of the new coach at Sevilla Fútbol Club comes at a critical moment for the entity, following two consecutive defeats that led to the departure of the previous coach. The team, which began the season with the mission of stabilizing, is now in a compromised position, with a narrow lead over the relegation spots. The main objective is to widen this gap in the upcoming match against Levante UD.
Interestingly, the current Sevilla FC coach was an option considered by Levante UD last November, after the dismissal of their previous coach. During his previous tenure at the Valencian club, between 2008 and 2011, he managed to save the team from a very complex financial and sporting situation, culminating in promotion to the top flight of Spanish football.
Despite his successful past, Levante UD chose not to repeat the experience, leaving the coach without a team until Sevilla Fútbol Club contacted him. With a solid track record in lower-table teams and several promotions to Primera División, the coach is seen as a valuable asset to face the final stretch of the season. The decision to change coaches, with the previous one still under contract, underscores the urgency of the situation in Nervión.
With only seven matchdays remaining until the end of the 2025/2026 season, both Sevilla FC and Levante UD face a decisive period in their fight for permanence. The match between the two teams, scheduled for Jueves de Feria, will be crucial in this battle. Other teams such as Real Oviedo, Deportivo Alavés, Elche CF, RCD Mallorca, and Rayo Vallecano are also involved in this struggle to avoid relegation.
