This expansion provides over 30,000 additional residents with access to this proximity service, which has been operating since December 2023. The program now employs 64 agents and 3 coordinators, reflecting a steady increase in the service's reach across the city.
Since its inception, the agents have performed over 3,000 citizen escorts and handled nearly 1,000 reports in coordination with CECOP, the Local Police, and the Fire Department. Their work focuses on prevention, conflict mediation, and reporting urban infrastructure issues between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
“"This service is not just a boost to security: it is also about solidarity. A watchman who accompanies an elderly person to their door or alerts firefighters to an emergency is building a better city."
The initiative also serves a social purpose, as many agents were hired through social inclusion programs under the ERACIS+ strategy, co-financed by the Regional Government of Andalusia and the European Social Fund Plus. Agents receive specialized training in operational protocols, gender-based violence prevention, and anti-LGTBphobia measures.
