The incident took place at Seville's Maestranza bullring when the fourth bull of the afternoon, weighing 512 kilograms, charged the bullfighter, throwing him against the sand and causing significant injuries. Although initially only a small tear in his attire was visible, the extent of the wound became clear upon his transfer to the medical center.
The surgical procedure, which lasted over two hours, focused on cleaning the wound, repairing the rectal wall and sphincteric apparatus, and draining the postanal and retrorectal areas. Doctors described the injury as a bull horn wound approximately 10 centimeters long, partially damaging the posterior sphincter muscles and perforating the posterior wall of the rectum.
