Last week, negotiations between the directors of Sevilla Fútbol Club and Sergio Ramos collapsed, thwarting the alternative that the footballer and Five Eleven Capital presented for the entity. Following an official club statement and a press conference by the defender, Ramos has posted an image on his Instagram account that has caused concern among supporters.
The player shared a story with the word "soon", featuring him drinking water after a match with his most recent club, Rayados de Monterrey. This message has opened up various interpretations: from his potential retirement from professional football to a new sporting adventure. However, Sevilla fans are hoping this "soon" relates to his future as a club shareholder, although the photograph on the pitch makes this option less likely.
“"The decision for Ramos not to play for Sevilla is mine. I told Sergio's entourage that for me, it was incompatible to be an owner and play for Sevilla at the same time."
It is worth remembering that the president of Sevilla Fútbol Club, José María del Nido Carrasco, previously stated in an interview that Sergio Ramos' return was ruled out during the winter transfer window. He cited that the negotiations were incompatible with his potential role as owner and player.
Ramos' relationship with the Sevilla fanbase has historically been complex since his departure to Real Madrid in 2005. Despite a partial reconciliation after his time as a national hero, controversial celebrations with the Madrid club ultimately undermined any redemption. His return to his formative club in the summer of 2023 was crucial in securing the team's league survival.
