The mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Jesús Lupiáñez, accompanied by councilors Jesús María Claros and Lourdes Piña, visited the facilities of CEIP José Luis Villar Palasí to observe the progress of improvement and redistribution works. These actions, highly requested by the educational community, focus on the interior adaptation of the buildings.
The project, advancing well, is being executed through the Rural Employment Promotion Plan (PFEA) for Municipal Buildings in 2025. It has an allocated budget of 57,548.26 euros and a completion period of three and a half months.
Lupiáñez highlighted the importance of these interventions for the well-being of students and teachers, calling them a priority to make educational centers more functional and safe. He emphasized the collaboration between the Infrastructure and Education departments as key to addressing school demands.
For his part, Jesús María Claros, councilor for Municipal Buildings, stressed the need for continuity in relations with educational centers to tackle issues. He cited the recent repair of a wall at CEIP Blas Infante as an example, an urgent action to ensure safety.
Education councilor Lourdes Piña highlighted the agility in pre-work procedures thanks to good interdepartmental connection, which will allow for the prompt completion of the tasks.
Current tasks include the redistribution of the janitor's residence, demolition and debris removal, and repair of affected walls. The work involves 2 skilled workers and 16 laborers.
Claros also reviewed other improvements made in local educational centers during the current term, such as upgrades to sports areas, construction of new classrooms and restrooms, and repairs in courtyards. He specifically mentioned interventions at CEIP Genaro Rincón, CEIP Axarquía, CEIP Andalucía, and CEIP Juan Herrera Alcausa, where an exterior wall in danger of collapse was repaired.
Further actions have been carried out at CEIP Augusto Santiago Bellido, Villar Palasí, Blas Infante, and Antonio Checa. Additionally, approximately one hundred air conditioning systems have been installed in various school complexes, including CEIP José Luis Villar Palasí, Augusto Santiago Bellido, Axarquía, Juan Porras, Las Naciones, Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, Juan Herrera Alcausa, Vicente Aleixandre, Custodio Puga, San Faustino, Torrejaral, Valle-Niza, and Genaro Rincón.
