The bullfighter, originally from La Puebla del Río, will postpone his comeback, initially planned for Valladolid, until the aforementioned date in Jerez. This event will mark his return to bullfighting after the incident on April 20 at the Maestranza in Seville.
The event in Jerez will not only be significant for his return but also because the bullfighter will inaugurate a monument dedicated to Rafael de Paula, an initiative he personally promoted. The work, created by the sculptor from Huelva, Martín Lagares, adds a special nuance to his reappearance.
Despite the favorable progress of his injuries, the bullfighter required additional time to ensure his full physical fitness. The goring, described as "very serious," necessitated surgical intervention in the bullring's infirmary in Seville.
“"The bull horn wound in the posterior anal margin with a trajectory of about 10 cm, partially injuring the anal sphincter musculature and with a 1.5 cm perforation in the posterior wall of the rectum."
After being admitted to Hospital Viamed-Santa Ángela de Sevilla, the bullfighter requested voluntary discharge four days later, on Friday, April 24, to continue his recovery at his home in La Puebla del Río and resume training as soon as possible.
The bullfighter's schedule after Jerez includes performances in bullrings such as Nimes, Aranjuez, Seville (for Corpus Christi), Granada, Marbella, El Puerto de Santa María, and Ronda, where he will participate in its traditional Goyesca bullfight. He is expected to conclude his season on September 27 at the Maestranza.
