The so-called 'Leire Díez case' plot allegedly sought «information that could compromise» magistrate Mercedes Alaya, the investigating judge in the 'ERE case' and the 'Aznalcollar case'. In the latter, the former director of the State Industrial Holdings Company (SEPI), Vicente Fernández, who is also under investigation, was imputed.
According to a report from the Civil Guard's Central Operational Unit (UCO), addressed to the National High Court judge Santiago Pedraz, an investigation is underway into an alleged network to destabilize judicial cases affecting the PSOE and the Government. Investigators suggest this network was led by the party's former Organization Secretary Santos Cerdán and coordinated by former militant Leire Díez.
Investigators detail that the 'ERE case' «initially had the Unit of the National Police attached to the courts of Seville» as the responsible police body, headed at the time by Rafael Salvador.
The report indicates that Díez allegedly met with Salvador on two occasions in 2020 to obtain «information that could compromise magistrate Alaya» and «to question the investigations she carried out». The UCO has found a folder titled «22 recordings Rafael Salvador» on a Drive account.
