Repair work on the damaged cabling has been ongoing since Tuesday afternoon, when a tunneling machine for the Malaga metro accidentally broke a Telefónica cable box. Although 80% of the issue has been resolved, full service restoration is now anticipated throughout Thursday.
According to sources from the Andalusian Government, full resolution is expected around midday. The incident occurred when the machine encountered a Telefónica junction box that was not marked as affected.
Telefónica is in constant contact with the Consejería de Fomento of the Regional Government of Andalusia to determine the exact time of complete service normalization. The company stated that the breakage initially interrupted service in the area, though they did not provide an estimate of affected households. Service was partially restored by rerouting connections through other cables, but some customers may still experience Internet and telephone issues.
