This material, which outwardly resembles a common cap, incorporates robust internal padding designed to mitigate impacts from blunt objects. The intervention occurred within the security operation for the Copa del Rey final in the Andalusian capital.
“"It is a new material being used as a protective element against possible head assaults, and from there we will continue to investigate its use and whether it is truly becoming widespread among these radical groups that seek confrontation and fighting."
The seizures took place on Friday night, affecting two groups. While one was intercepted in Seville's historic center, another was stopped near La Carlota (Córdoba) while traveling by bus. In this latter operation, 91 individuals were identified, and numerous dangerous items were confiscated, including knives, sticks, chains, and balaclavas, before they were transferred to Seville.
In addition to the protective caps, other items seized included vests, helmets, knuckle dusters, flares, flare launchers, switchblades, mouthguards, pepper spray, shirts with radical symbolism, and hundreds of protective motorcycle gloves. One of the most notable interventions was the confiscation of a box containing 95 iron bars.
To ensure safety during the Copa del Rey final, the National Police deployed a total of 1,617 officers, supplemented by 679 Guardia Civil personnel. The Seville City Council, for its part, mobilized 230 members of the Local Police to control traffic, monitor street vending, and supervise key leisure areas.
