The work, created by the artist from Algeciras, Juan Sierra, is presented in the exhibition hall of the Seville Chamber of Commerce. This exhibition will be open to the public from May 7 to May 29, offering a deep investigation into the interaction between light and color.
“"The project explores light as a perceptive phenomenon through color and its transformation."
The installation is conceived as an experience that unfolds over time, transforming into an artwork of great aesthetic depth. In it, the spectator's participation is fundamental, considered an integral part of the creation.
In his creative process, Juan Sierra focuses on essential elements: space, light, and color, setting aside figuration. For the artist, light is not just a means to illuminate the work, but an intrinsic part of it, gaining prominence as the pigment is reduced.
This exhibition stands out for its poetic sensibility, evoking the work of the Algeciras artist Blanca Orozco, who was Sierra's teacher. Part of Orozco's work was posthumously exhibited in the same hall of the Fundación Cámara de Sevilla. The installation's title also establishes a connection with the poetic work of Almotamid, the last king of the Seville taifa.
Contemplating the exhibition conveys a sense of peace and tranquility, which some critics have compared to Leopardi's verse: “and to shipwreck is sweet to me in this sea”.
