The iconic Giralda of Seville is undergoing a new and ambitious restoration project. After completing five previous phases of consolidation and improvement, the sixth stage has now begun, which will specifically concentrate on the monument's Renaissance Pinnacle.
This new intervention, with an approximate duration of 22 months, will cover the interior of the Bell Chamber and the Renaissance Pinnacle itself. Although the Giraldillo, the tower's symbol, will not be part of this particular intervention, the work will extend to its base.
Impressive cranes are already rising to the height of the Bell Chamber, prepared to carry out the restoration and consolidation tasks. These works will follow the same rigorous criteria applied in previous phases, paying special attention to the support structures of the six striking bells, which show considerable deterioration due to the passage of time.
The Cathedral Chapter of Seville has renewed its trust in the technical team that has led the previous interventions since 2015. It is important to note that cultural visits to the monument will continue without interruption, although interventions within the Bell Chamber may be influenced by tourist flow.
